J <br /> T 31 <br /> THRIFTY OIL CO. <br /> � . r n Dirt <br /> August 8, 1994 <br /> Mr Michael Collins <br /> Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division <br /> County of San Joaquin <br /> P O Box 2009 (1601 E Hazelton Ave ) <br /> Stockton, California 95201 <br /> RE Thnfty Oil Company Station #171 <br /> 1250 North Wilson Way <br /> Stockton, CA 95205 <br /> Quarterly Monitoring Report, 2nd Quarter 1994 <br /> Dear Mr Collins <br /> This letter serves as a progress monitoring report for the above mentioned service station In <br /> addition, data regarding free product removal is included as requested in PHS letter of May 18, <br /> 1994 This status report presents site monitoring efforts through the 2nd quarter, 1994 and <br /> product removal activities to date Thrifty Oil Co has retained Earth Management Co (EMC) <br /> to conduct giiarterly monitoring and sampling activities at the site The data collected by EMC <br /> is reported by Thrifty in-house environmental staff <br /> SITE REMEDIATION <br /> To date, no remediation of soil and groundwater has been conducted at the site Currently, <br /> Thrifty is conducting an additional investigation which consists of the installation of two off-site <br /> and one on-site monitoring well The project is in the planning and permitting phase There <br /> are numerous obstructions to drilling of the off-site wells, and we are currently evaluating <br /> options that will be satisfactory to the City Department of Public Works <br /> GROUNDWATER MONITORING <br /> The latest groundwater sampling event was conducted on June 7, 1994 The site was visited by <br /> an Earth Management Co (EMC) technician The EMC technician obtained depth to <br /> groundwater data and observed wells for the presence of free product Groundwater depth <br /> measurements were taken from the top of the PVC well casing using an Oil Recovery Systems <br /> interface probe capable of measurements to within 0 01 feet Depth to groundwater ranged from <br /> 63 05 to 64 40 feet below grade on June 7, 1994, which represents a rise of about 2 feet since <br /> March 1994 Using the depth to groundwater and survey data for the site, a groundwater <br /> contour map was developed The contour map is presented as Figure 1 The contour map <br /> suggests that the potentiometric surface of the groundwater slopes to the east across the site, <br /> under a gradient of 0 0013 <br /> Qo <br /> 10000 Lakewood Boulevard, Downey, California 90240 (310) 923-9876 <br />
