CONCLUSION ' I
The findings of this investigation indicate the soils beneath the site consist mostly of low
permeability silty clay and clayey silt to the total depth investigated of 90 feet bgs A sand layer
was encountered in each deep well that occurs between 70 and 75 feet bgs which was underlain
by fine grained deposits typical of the upper section Groundwater occurs at approximately 75
J feet bgs and flows to the northeast under a gradient of 0 003 Groundwater was previously
encountered at 50 feet bgs in 1988
Soils immediately west of the tank cluster contain the highest concentrations of hydrocarbon
The vertical distribution of hydrocarbon in this area is relatively uniform from approximately
40 feet bgs to the water table with a maximum measured concentration of 2,100 mg/kg TPH
Soil samples from each of the remaining boreholes drilled during this investigation contained 13
mg/kg TPH or less These results suggest the bulk of hydrocarbon-affected soil is located
immediately adjacent to the underground tank cluster This hydrocarbon mass is relatively
accessible with the existing wells at the site
Groundwater samples from the site suggest the dissolved hydrocarbon mass is most concentrated
along the west side of the property The plume extends eastward across the site to well MW3R
Page 9
