Well construction details are depicted <br /> graphically in the appended boring logs. All cuttings from each boring <br /> were placed in 55-gallon drums, sealed, labeled and left onsite for proper <br /> disposal pending the results of the sample analyses. <br /> Following completion of the borings, the soil samples were submitted to the <br /> WCC laboratory in Pleasant Hill , California. Standard WCC sample numbering <br /> and chain-of-custody procedures were used to track the samples. The <br /> samples were identified by boring (monitoring well) number and sample depth <br /> interval . For example, a sample taken from the boring for MW-1 from the <br /> fifth interval at a depth of 25 feet would be identified as MW1-25-26.5 <br /> with 26.5 being the lower depth of the sampling interval . <br /> lOn September 1, 1988, wells MW-i and MW-2 were developed and sampled. Well <br /> MW-3 was found to contain only a few inches of water and therefore could <br /> not be developed or sampled. A minimum of five casing volumes of water <br /> (35 gallons) were removed from each of the two wells using a Teflon <br /> bailer. Per the state Regional Water Quality Control Board sampling <br /> protocol , all wells were allowed to recover to at least 80 percent of their <br /> original water levels prior to sampling. The wells were sampled using a <br /> clean Teflon bailer, and samples were submitted to the WCC laboratory in <br /> Pleasant Hill for analysis. As with the soil cuttings, the recovered water <br /> was placed in 55-gallon drums, sealed, labeled and left onsite for proper <br /> disposal pending the results of the laboratory analyses. <br /> Laboratory Analyses <br /> rAll soil and water samples were kept on ice until submitted to the WCC <br />' laboratory. Standard WCC chain-of-custody procedures were followed to <br /> track the samples. Per the RFP, all soil samples were analyzed for total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) , while samples taken closest to the apparent <br /> water table location and those with TPH concentrations greater than <br /> 6 <br />
