Coca-Cola Enterprises - West
Job No. 90054
9/27/90
San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District issued a revised aeration permit for
l uncontrolled soil aeration on site.
3.0 FIELD PROCEDURES a
The field investigation was conducted by USTEC from May 8, 1990 to September 27, 1990.
The investigation consisted of a soil gas survey, drilling and logging of soil test borings,
subsurface soil sampling, soil vapor monitoring, groundwater monitoring well construction,
groundwater sampling, and soil aeration. All work was conducted in general accordance with
it the California Site Mitigation Decision Tree Manual, the Leaking Underground Fuel Tank Field
(LUFT) Manual, and the California Well Standards Bulletin 74-90. All work was conducted
under the supervision of a USTEC geologist registered in the State of California. The
procedures used by USTEC personnel during the field investigation are described in the
following sections.
k 3.1 UTILITIES
The site was supplied with both water and sewer services by the City of Stockton. Several
1Aunderground utilities were identified running parallel to Wilson Way, School Street and
Roosevelt Street within the street right-of-way prior to the start of field activities. All utilities
were found to be above the water table. Since the identified utilities are above the water table,
the utilities should not enhance the Y
migration of dissolved hydrocarbons at the Stockton site.
j 3.2 SOIL GAS SURVEY
A preliminary.field assessment was conducted at the site on May 9 and 10, 1990. The
' preliminary assessment consisted of a soil gas survey designed to estimate the lateral extent of
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination found during the tank removal operations at the site.
The soil gas survey was used in the field as a basis for the location of groundwater monitoring
wells and soil test borings. The soil gas survey report is included as Appendix B.
3.3 DRILLING AND SUBSURFACE SOIL SAMPLING
- r
Thirteen borings were drilled at the Coca-Cola site to-evaluate-the_vertical-and lateral extent-----------
5
xtent___ _5
i
