Box 2009
Stockton,California 95201
RE: ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY RESULTS FOR COMPOSITE SOIL SAMPLES AT THE
COCA-COLA ENTERPRISES - WEST FACILITY, 1100 NORTH WILSON WAY,
STOCKTON,CALIFORNIA. JOB NO. 90054.03. SITE CODE NO. 1297.
Dear Steve:
At the written request of your office dated February 11, 1991 composite soil samples were
collected from the aerating soils at the Stockton facility. The samples were analyzed for reactive
cyanide in order to verify the analytical results of previous sampling which indicated elevated
amounts of reactive cyanide in the soil sample collected from the outside soil stockpile..
On]March 7, `'-91 a USTEC hydrogeologist collected a total of six composite samples from the
w_ soil stockpile. All samples were collected and handled in accordance with USTEC's policy for
_ the care and handling of soil samples. In addition, chain-of-custody documentation was
maintained and accompanied the samples to Sequoia Analytical Services in Redwood City,
Califor-sia.
The analytical chemistry results indicate a reactive cyanide concentration of 1.7 ppm in
- composite sample number 5,and not detected in the remaining soils samples. The laboratory
noted on the certificate of analysis that no gas evolved from the sample when tested with water.
It is our understanding that the State of California toxicologist has informed you that 1.7 ppm
of reactive cyanide in one sample poses no significant problem and does not require further
action. In addition,USTEC understands that no additional samples for reactive cyanide will be
required for the Stockton facility.
i
6
 e
1
1 ;
Rar 1.414 W, i3roadway Rd. • SIC. 150 • Tt"Mpe.
