The pH,specific conductivity,and temperature were
monitored for each well during the purging process. All water from the purging process was
contained in Department of Transportation approved(DOT) 17H,55-gallon steel drums. These
drums were temporarily stored on-site pending completion of the analytical test results. Upon
receipt of these results, the water from these drums was transported to Gibson Oil and Refining,
Inc.of Redwood City,California for disposal. The transportation manifest for the purged water
—` is presented in Appendix A.
The groundwater samples were collected using a decontaminated 2-inch nominal diameter
M> Teflon®bailer. Groundwater was discharged directly from the bailer into three 40-milliliter(m!)
VOA glass vials with Teflon septum caps, into one 1-liter amber glass bottle and one 500 ml
plastic bottle. The VOA vials were filled, capped, and inverted to check for possible air bubbles.
If air bubbles were present, the vials were refilled and checked again. This procedure was
repeated until an acceptable sample was obtained. The 1-liter and 500 ml containers were filled
until very little head space remained in the bottle. A duplicate sample was collected from
monitor well MW-3 and labeled MW-7. An equipment blank was also collected by pouring
distilled water through the Teflon®bailer after the final rinse_ The water was discharged directly
{ into three 40-m1 VOA sample containers.
rJ
All groundwater samples were labeled, wrapped in a protective wrap, placed in a resealable
plastic bag, placed on ice, and maintained at about 4° Centigrade to minimize potential
Chain-of-custody documentation was maintained by
volatilization of the organic compounds.
3
i
i
s
