r <br /> SMTH <br /> field preparation and job start-up activities Permit applications with corresponding fees are <br /> included in Appendix III <br /> 1 <br /> Task 2 - Drilling Three Exploratory Soil Borings <br /> ' Three soil borings will be advanced to depths of approximately 30 feet using 8-inch O D hollow <br /> stem augers (Figure 2) Drilling will be conducted by a State-licensed (C57) drilling company <br /> A field geologist will be present to log all drill cuttings and soil samples Descriptions of soil <br /> types encountered, and sample collection intervals will be recorded on boring logs and included <br /> rin the site investigation report Soil samples will be collected at five foot intervals and screened <br /> with a flame ionization detector (FID). Two samples from each boring will be submitted for <br /> rlaboratory analysis Samples will be selected based on FID readings and depth <br /> All drill cuttings will be placed on and covered with plastic and stored on-site pending laboratory <br /> results Selected soil samples will be sent using chain-of-custody record to a State-certified <br /> laboratory for the following analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes <br /> (BTEX) utilizing EPA methods 8015/8020 <br /> ' Task 3 - Report Preparation <br /> ' Upon completion of all field activities, a report will be prepared for submittal to SJCPHS The <br /> report will summarize field and laboratory procedures as well as all analytical data and will <br /> ' request site closure certification, if appropriate <br /> ' PROJECTED SCHEDULE <br /> The drilling of the soil borings will require 1 day to be completed The field work can be <br /> ' scheduled when the necessary permits are obtained Once the field work is complete and all <br /> laboratory results have been received, all data will be analyzed and the closure report will be <br /> ' prepared Preparation of this report will take approximately three weeks SMTH can initiate <br /> work at the site after receiving authorization to proceed from SJCPHS <br /> 0540WREPORTM595 WP 3 <br /> r <br />
