r <br /> FALAFAW <br /> Working To Restore Nature <br /> Addendum One to Remedial Action Plan March 1, 1993 <br /> Coca-Cola Former Distribution Facility, Stockton, California 54006.01 <br /> ' The 17 industrial solvents tested were all nondetectable. Flashpoint was nonhazardous and <br /> was greater than 100 °C (212 'F). The pH was normal at pH 8.2 and pH 8.7. The fish <br /> bioassays indicated the soil was nonhazardous, and had an LC-50 (Lethal Concentration at <br /> 1 50% kill) of greater than 1000 ppm The heavy metals detected were: arsenic, barium, <br /> chromium IH� cobalt, copper, lead, mercury, nickel, vanadium, and zinc. RESNA checked <br /> normal soil background concentrations reported in the scientific literature (Lindsay, 1979; <br /> Scott, 1991) and determined that the heavy metal concentrations detected were at or below <br /> normal background concentrations. <br /> ' A Permit for Uncontrolled Aeration was obtained from the San Joaquin County Air <br /> Pollution Control District for aeration of the soil stockpile,with the exception of the drums <br /> containing soil from the upper 20 feet from borings B-1, B-2, and B-5 (USTEC, November <br /> 1990) This upper 20 feet of soil was transported to Ogden Environmental Services in <br /> Stockton, Califorma where it was incinerated. <br /> ' Groundwater Samples <br /> Groundwater was encountered at a depth of about 70 feet below grade. In August 1990, <br /> five groundwater samples were collected and submitted for analysis, and all five showed <br /> detectable petroleum hydrocarbons. Cumulative results of laboratory analyses of <br /> ' groundwater samples are summarized in Table A-3. In August 1990, TPHg was <br /> nondetectable in all wells except MW-1 located immediately east of the former gasoline <br /> UST. In MW-1, TPHG was detected at 46 parts per billion (ppb). TPHd was detected in <br /> ' four of the five wells, and ranged from nondetectable in MW-3 to 220 ppb in MW-1. <br /> Benzene was present in MW-1 and MW-2 at 0.52 and 0.53 ppb respectively, and was <br /> nondetectable in MW-3 through MW-5. Toluene was nondetectable in all wells, except <br /> ' MW-3 where it was detected at 0.36 ppm; ethylbenzene was nondetectable in all wells; total <br /> xylenes were present in MW-I and MW-2 at less than 1 ppb. PNAs were nondetectable in <br /> the three wells analyzed for PNAs (MW-1 through MW-3). Volatile aromatic organic <br /> rcompounds (VAOCs by EPA Method 8020) were nondetectable in the two wells tested <br /> (MW4 and MW-5). All regulated chemicals were within State and Federal Maximum <br /> Contammant Levels (MCIs) in groundwater in August 1990. State and Federal MCLS are <br /> fisted at the bottom of Table A-3. <br /> 1 Additional Subsurface Investigation <br /> Additional step out borings (B-14 through B-24) were drilled in October and November <br /> 1990. Eleven borings were drilled, one groundwater monitoring well (MW-6)was ;nstalled <br /> in one boring, and four vapor extraction wells (VEW 1 through VEW4) were installed in <br /> A3 <br />
