Fust Quarter 1993 Monitonng Report
Coca-Cola Enterpnses-West
Project No 54006 02
Page 5
former tank pit (in well MW-1). Wells MW-2 and MW-6 located cross-gradient and
downgradient from the former tank pit excavation, respectively, which previously contained
nondetectable concentrations of TPHG, TPHD, and BTEX, contained detectable levels of
1 gasoline hydrocarbons This may be due to the wet seasonal conditions and the nse'm
groundwater elevations
' The unrecorded facility well does not pose a threat as a potential conduit for the migration of
contaminants from the shallow aquifer to deeper aquifers based on laboratory analytical results
for the sample collected and the location of the well in relation to the former tank pit excavation.
' RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the findings and conclusions of this and previous groundwater monitoring episodes,
' RESNA recommends continued quarterly monitoring consisting of measuring water levels in
wells MW-1 through MW-6 and collecting samples from wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-6
Water samples collected during monitoring should be submitted for laboratory analysis of
TPHG, TPHD, and BTEX using EPA methods 5030/8015/8020.
RESNA recommends that the facility well be destroyed by backfilling it with a pressurized,
' tremied mixture of neat cement and bentonite grout leaving the casing in place A well
destruction permit should be prepared and submitted to SJCPHS for approval prior to well
destruction.
SCHEDULE
The next quarterly monitoring episode is scheduled for June 1993 with the quarterly monitoring
report submitted about July 1993 Routine well maintenance and inspection will be performed
' as necessary during site visits
' DISTRIBUTION
Copies of this report will be forwarded to the following regulatory agencies involved in this
' project:
' 1QMRt993 FNL
