This avoids having to interrupt
' normal facility operations and avoids the cost of concrete cutting and re-trenching of the
entire area if a groundwater remediation system is required. About 150 feet of 4-inch
diameter, Schedule 40 PVC pipe will be installed in the vapor pipe trench from well MW-3,
1 the most impacted well, to the remediation compound. This pipe will be terminated and
capped at the compound and at well MW-3
Treatment Processes for Off-Gas Abatement
The off-gas treatment processes will be located in the remediation compound The
proposed location of the remediation compound is shown in Plate 6. The proposed
remediation compound will be about 20 feet long by 20 feet wide and allows some space for
a groundwater remediation system if it is required at a future date. The remediation
1 compound will be fenced to preclude public access. The proposed location of the
remediation compound was selected so that treated off-gas would not be released m the
covered storage bay areas or near personnel in the commercial operating area The
proposed location of the remediation compound is contingent upon approval by Coca-Cola,
the SJCEHD, the San Joaquin Valley Umfied Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD),
and American Performance, the current lessee of the property.
Plate 7 illustrates ther off-
gas oposed Process Flow Diagram for the off gas abatement processes.
' The process and other equipment at the remediation compound will include a slid-mounted
condensate separator to remove any moisture in extracted vapor, a skid-mounted pneumatic
condensate drain pump and a double contained condensate storage tank, a skid-mounted
vacuum blower to extract vapor from the wells, a slid-mounted thermal oxidizer to treat
extracted vapors to meet regulatory emissions limits; an air flow meter to measure total air
flow to the system; a set of associated piping, control valves, and necessary electrical and
' instrumentation; a remote monitoring system to transmit the status of process variables and
any alarm conditions to RESNA's Stockton office; and a remediation compound fence.
The use of a thermal oxidizer at this site is a viable off-gas abatement alternative for the
projected TPHg concentrations (average of 5,287 mg/m3), for the type of soil (clayey and
' 5
