Working To Restore Nature <br />' Report on Vapor Extraction Test January 29, 1993 <br /> Coca-Cola Former Distribution Facility, Stockton, California 5400601 <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND <br />' The subject site is located to northern California in San Joaquin County at 1100 North <br /> Wilson Way in Stockton, California The City of Stockton is about a 1-1/2 hour drive due <br /> east of the City of San Francisco The site is situated at the intersection of Roosevelt Street <br /> and North Wilson Way as shown on Plate 1, Site Vicinity Map. The site is bounded by a <br /> motel and vacant lot to the north, North Wilson Way to the west, Roosevelt Street to the <br /> south, and School Avenue to the east as shown on Plate 2, Generalized Site Plan <br /> The site property is about 1-1/2 acres in area, and was formerly used by Coca-Cola as a <br /> warehouse and distribution facility for bottled and canned soft drinks The site is currently <br /> closed, fenced, and locked to preclude public access Coca-Cola has signed a lease-to-own <br /> contract with a local business, American Performance, an automobile body shop The site <br /> is currently not in use, although American Performance is expected to begin commercial <br />' operations there in 1993 The site is relatively flat, and predominantly concrete and asphalt <br /> covered Buildings include a two-Story brick office building, covered metal service bays and <br /> storage areas, a carbon dioxide production unit for beverages, and a parking lot in the <br /> northeast corner The locations of these buildings and other pertinent site features are <br /> shown in Plate 2 <br />' Coca-Cola closed operations at the Distribution Facility in April 1990 Two steel <br /> underground storage tanks (USTs), fuel dispensers, product piping and vent piping were <br /> excavated and disposed as part of the abandonment process One 10,000 gallon diesel UST, <br />' installed in 1978, and one 1,000 gallon gasoline UST, installed in 1937, were excavated <br /> (USTEC, September 20, 1991) The locations of the former USTs are shown in Plate 2 <br /> Several environmental investigations have been conducted since tank removal <br /> PREVIOUS WORK <br /> Tank Excavation <br /> On April 19, 1990, Crisp Construction of Visalia, California, under the supervision of Quinn <br /> and Quinn Enterprises, Inc also of Visalia, excavated and removed one 10,000 gallon <br /> underground diesel tank, one 1,000 gallon underground gasoline tank and associated piping <br /> and fuel dispensers Environmental sampling for the UST removal was conducted by U S <br />' Technical Environmental Consulting, Inc (USTEC, June 1990) The 10,000 gallon tank <br /> showed no visual holes or severe corrosion The 1,000 gallon gasoline tank, however, <br /> showed severe signs of corrosion, and one 1/2-inch diameter hole was found in the wall of <br /> the tank Rinsate from the tanks was manifested and treated offsite at Refineries Service, <br />' 2 <br />
