Data Usability Summary
initial data. Therefore, the initial results were reported both analytes were flagged `E'. Samples MW-6-
W-080409MS and MW-6-W-080409MSD were not flagged because their MS/MSD recoveries were
within acceptance criteria.
The continuing calibration verification standard analyzed with samples MW-2-W-080717,MW-3-W-
080717,MW-5-W-080717 MW-5-WD-080717MS and MW-5-WD-080717MSD was outside the method
limits. Samples MW-3-W-080717 and MW-5-WD-080717MS did not have any remaining samples for
reanalysis so the initial results were reported and flagged `E'. The remaining samples were re-injected for
second analysis however the surrogate recoveries were above the QC criteria with comparable results so
the initial results were reported. All results for this data set were flagged V.
Surrogates
All surrogates were within QC range with the following exceptions: Surrogate Orthoterphenyl percent
recovery was above the acceptance criteria for the LCS and MS/MSD pair MW-6-W-080409MS/MW-6-
W-080409MSD however associated samples were within acceptance criteria therefore no flags were
Lapplied for this discrepancy.
Representativeness
Representativeness was assessed through the evaluation of the equipment blank sample, chain-of-custody
forms, preservation, and holding times. The reported results were also compared to the laboratory's
MDLs and LOQs.
' Method Blank Results
All laboratory method blanks were free of contamination.
' Field QC Results
Two rinsate blank were submitted with the field samples. The rinsate blanks were free of contamination
with the following exceptions: Naphthalene was detected in rinsate blank QA-Pump-R-080409 at 0.032
ug/l the associated samples MW-6-W-080409 and MW-7-W-080409 results for Naphthalene were
flagged `E'. One set of field duplicates were taken during events. TPH-DRO and TPH-DRO w/SiGel
field duplicates MW-7-W-080717 and MW-7-WD-080717 were outside the relative percent difference
' 30%for water samples. The results were flagged `E'.
Chain-Of-Custody Forms
1 Sample analytical results were evaluated for agreement with the chain-of-custody form. Based on the
evaluation, all samples were received at the lab in the appropriate containers and in good condition with
the chain-of-custody form filled out properly.
Preservation and Holding Times
Samples were preserved in the field as appropriate, were received at the laboratory within the acceptance
' temperature criterion of 4±2°C, and sample preservations, when required by the analysis, were less than
the acceptance pH limit of 2. The samples were prepared and analyzed within specified holding times.
Reporting Limits
Data reported for this sampling event were reported with the laboratory method detection limits (MDLs).
The MDL represents the lowest concentration point where an analyte can be positively identified, but the
quantitation is an estimate. The limit of quantitation (LOQ) is the lowest concentration of an analyte in a
sample that the laboratory can report with precision and accuracy. Analytes that were reported between
the MDL and LOQ for this data set were qualified "J" as estimates. Due to the nature of the sample
matrix, the laboratory used reduced aliquots for several samples and the MDL and LOQ were adjusted
appropriately.
