7.3 Respirator Cartridge Replacement Schedule <br /> I <br /> I <br /> All respirators equipped with organic vapor/HEPA filter cartridges will follow a <br /> regular cartridge replacement schedule All cartridges should be clearly marked with the date <br /> when they are initially opened An appropriate organic vapor/HEPA filter cartridge replacement <br /> schedule would be <br /> • Once each week with little or no use of the respirator, <br /> • Once every other day with consistent (daily) use of the respirator in <br /> organic vapor concentrations of 1-100 ppmv, and <br /> • Once each eight hours of use in organic vapor concentrations greater than <br /> 100 ppmv <br /> 7.4 PPE Inspection <br /> Field personnel are responsible for inspecting and maintaining their PPE All PPE <br /> will be inspected before use each day Field personnel will examine PPE for the following <br /> • Visible wear and abrasion to PPE materials, <br /> • Missing parts or components of PPE, <br /> • Visible contamination, and <br /> • Manufacturer defects <br /> If any flaws or defects are detected the item will be discarded or returned to the <br /> manufacturer for repair and a replacement personal protective device will be provided <br /> l <br /> 7.5 Temperature Limitations <br /> Chemical-resistant protective clothing and respirator use can cause employees to <br /> fatigue rapidly and will inhibit body cooling Radian personnel shall be instructed to pace <br /> 7-5 <br />
