5tantec
2010 TIDEWATER STOCKTON WORK PLAN
3.2.5 Reporting
The data collected through the implementation of this work plan will be included in a results
report following completion of all field work and receipt of all analytical data.
3.3 UOU EXTRACTION WELL INSTALLATION AND AQUIFER TESTING
Following drilling at the WFT, two groundwater extraction wells (GWE-1 through GWE-2) will be
installed into the existing groundwater collection trench (GCT) previously installed by the RDA
during excavation activities that took place on the UOU in late 2008 and early 2009.
The extraction wells will be designed to recover groundwater in the collection trench which is
approximately 16 feet bgs and three feet wide. The trench is backfilled with two-inch drain rock
and lined with filter fabric. The recovery trench is overlain with an additional 18 inches of
drainage rock with the remainder fill material to ground surface. The purpose of these wells will
be to perform aquifer testing to determine information necessary to design appropriate
extraction and treatment methods for groundwater collected in the collection trench.
The following tasks will be completed during this phase of the work plan:
• Task 1 — Installation of groundwater extraction wells (GWE-1 and GWE-2);
• Task 2— Recovery well aquifer test;
• Task 3—Analytical laboratory testing;
• Task 4—Waste Management; and
• Task 5— Data analysis and reporting.
Details of each task are described below:
3.3.1 Task 1 — Installation of GWE Wells
Groundwater extraction wells (GWE-1 and GWE-2) will be installed in order to extract
groundwater from the GCT (the base of the trench is approximately 16 feet bgs and is generally
sloped down north to south) previously installed by the RDA. A well construction detail is
included as Figure 4.
The advancement of the soil borings and the well completions will be performed by a California
licensed driller and drilling oversight will be performed under the direction of a Stantec
Professional Geologist. Boreholes will be advanced as described below or to drilling refusal.
Prior to installation of the GWE wells a surveyor will be employed to pinpoint the appropriate
boring locations directly above the GCT based on coordinates provided by the RDA. The final
locations of the boring will also be based on the location of overhead and underground utilities.
3.10
