Appendix C Ground Penetrating Radar Investigation <br /> Phase IC ESA Muiti-Modal Station"Six-Block Project <br /> January 6,2003 <br /> Page 9 of 9 <br /> 931 E Weber Avenue <br /> Four potential locations for two borings were investigated by 24 GPR lines on May 22, 2002 Radargram <br /> 64 depicts a typical line at the property There are no features of potential concern identified and radar <br /> signal attenuation effects are evident One possible buried object at the site is shown in Radargram 65 <br /> This object was avoided during boring advancement <br /> 13.10 Railroad Properties <br /> On May 17, 2002 a total of 30 GPR lines were walked at the two railroad properties located adjacent to <br /> the eastern boundaries of Blocks 3 and 6 Four potential boring locations and other areas of potential <br /> concern were investigated Radargram 66 shows a typical line from one of the potential boring locations <br /> and indicates the disturbed nature of the subsurface at the property Despite these conditions, feasible <br /> boring locations were identified and no suspect features were noted <br /> 2.0 SUMMARY <br /> Based on the success of the drilling activities with regard to avoiding active utilities and other buried <br /> objects, the GPR investigation achieved its primary objective of identifying such features, thereby <br /> preventing added project time and expense, and ensuring safety The GPR investigation also identified <br /> several potential issues of concern that may warrant further investigation The GPR study was <br /> inconclusive regarding the nature of the potential issues of concern It does not appear that further <br /> investigation is warranted at this time, but further study may be necessary in the future <br />
