• DIRECT PUSH BORING INVESTIGATION <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Condor Earth Technologies, Inc (Condor) performed a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment at the <br /> request of the City of Stockton, Department of Housing and Redevelopment (DHR) for the properties <br /> (site) comprising the six-block area bounded by E Miner Avenue to the north, N Stanislaus Street to the <br /> west, E Weber Avenue to the south, and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks to the east in the city of <br /> Stockton, California The Geoprobe investigation was designed to help delineate the possible locations <br /> and extent of soil and groundwater contamination The Phase II ESA fieldwork was performed between <br /> May 13 and September 16,2002 <br /> Figures referenced in this section are located in Appendix A of Condor's Phase II Environmental Site <br /> Assessment Report, Multi-Modal Station "Six-Block Project" Stockton, Sart Joaquin County, California <br /> dated January 6, 2003 <br /> 2.0 SITE PREPARATION <br /> On April 17, 2002, Condor submitted an application for encroachment on public right-of-way to the City <br /> of Stockton Public Works Department for the borings to be advanced within the roadway of the site On <br /> April 18, 2002, Condor submitted eight well permit application forms to the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Division (EHD) One well permit application form was submitted for each of the <br /> six blocks and two well permit application forms were submitted for the borings to be advanced within <br /> the roadways — one for CPT drilling and the other for Geoprobe drilling On May 10, 2002, Condor <br /> mailed letters to the owners of the properties located within the six-block area notifying them of the <br /> upcoming work intended to be conducted at the site <br /> All CPT and direct push boring location areas were marked with white paint, and Underground Services <br /> Alert (USA) was notified at least 72 hours in advance of the drilling fieldwork to locate and identify <br /> underground utilities in the vicinity of the work area However, because many of the proposed boring <br /> locations were on private property, some utilities contacted by USA did not mark the locations of their <br /> utilities past property boundaries and onto private properties E14D and the City of Stockton were notified <br /> of the fieldwork schedule at least 48 hours in advance Prior to commencement of fieldwork each day, a <br /> tailgate safety meeting was conducted and a site-specific Health and Safety Plan was discussed with, and <br /> presented to, all field personnel for their signatures <br /> 3.0 DIRECT PUSH BORING PROCEDURES <br /> Vironex Environmental Field Services (Vironex) of San Leandro, California, advanced the direct push <br /> borings using a Geoprobe 6600 drilling rig, unless otherwise noted The general boring scheme included <br /> the advancement of Geoprobe borings to a depth of 15 feet bgs and detection and "perimeter" detection <br /> borings to a depth of 45 feet bgs The Geoprobe borings were advanced to evaluate the potential presence <br /> of near-surface soil contamination between 0 feet and 15 feet bgs, and were typically advanced on private <br /> properties The detection borings were installed to investigate the potential for shallow soil contamination <br /> between 0 feet and 15 feet bgs, and soil and groundwater contamination between 35 feet and 45 feet bgs <br />
