Typically, groundwater contamination at the encountered depth is caused by shallower soil contamination
that moves downward In regards to the potential source areas for the Block 4 groundwater plume, soil
contamination and a previously unknown underground storage tank were discovered at the property
located at 730 E Channel Street The two plumes in Blocks 5 and 6 have not been correlated to a
particular soil source area and additional exploration will be required to identify the associated soil
contamination It is likely that these two plumes may have originated from penetrations in the concrete
slabs, from releases along foundations and footings on the exteriors of buildings, or from leaking pipes
and drains that are part of the sanitary sewer system Additional work is needed to investigate the soil
sources of contaminants that have impacted groundwater In general, however, the properties with the
highest source potential are along the south side of Block 5 on the north side of E Weber Avenue,
specifically 805, 811, 815, 829, and 843 E Weber Avenue At BIock 6, high concentrations of soil
contamination were noted at the property at 931 E Weber Avenue This soil contamination, although high
in concentration, did not appear to extend to groundwater and is likely a small area of contaminants)
LIMITATIONS TO EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This executive summary should only be read as a brief summary, and not as a complete discussion of the full
report text The scope of work and limitations should be understood prior to reading the site-specific
information, results, and discussion Any construction and redevelopment activities should be coupled with
ongoing field environmental monitoring
CONDOR
