Block 5
No soil contamination or sources were identified at the Block 5 properties However, TCE,PCE, and 1,1-
DCE were identified in groundwater collected from the properties TCE and PCE were detected above
actionable levels The TCE groundwater plume appears to be centered above 805 E Weber Avenue, and
appears to extend northeast onto 811 E Weber Avenue and west across N Grant Street PCE
concentrations appear in groundwater samples collected from the southern half of Blocks 5 and 6 These
concentrations may not be linked, but for purposes of this report, they have been mapped as one plume
The highest concentrations of PCE were detected along the eastern boundary of Block 5 Low
concentrations of 1,1-DCE were noted from locations in the northern portion of Block 5 It is unknown if
these concentrations are linked to the I,l-DCE plume at Block 4 The groundwater contamination at
Block 5 needs to be further investigated with soil and groundwater sampling and possibly soil vapor gas
surveys The property at 820 E Channel Street should also be further investigated with soil borings once
the property is clear of surface obstructions and possibly a soil vapor survey in the basements of nearby
residences
Block 6
Petroleum-impacted soil was identified in the northern portion of 931 E Weber Avenue The vertical
extent of the soil contamination appears to extend down to at least 17 feet bgs The lateral extent of the
soil contamination appears to be constrained to the south, but needs further evaluation to the north, east,
and west This soil contamination does not appear to be related to any groundwater contamination
Removal of the contaminated soil is recommended as well as air monitoring in the basements of
residences north of 931 E Weber Avenue
Low to moderate concentrations of VOCs were detected in groundwater samples collected from Block 6
. PCE concentrations from the Block 6 properties (128 N Aurora Street and 931 E Weber Avenue) may be
related to the PCE groundwater plume at Block 5 (Figure A) Further investigation into the potential
source of the PCE contamination and the extent of the contamination needs to be performed Air
monitoring of residential property basements at Block 6 may need to be conducted in order to determine
if contaminants have volatilized
LIMITATIONS TO EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This executive summary should only be read as a brief summary, and not as a complete discussion of the full
report text The scope of work and limitations should be understood prior to reading the site-specific
information, results, and discussion Any construction and redevelopment activities should be coupled with
ongoing field environmental monitoring
•
1 ,
4 v
 CONDOR
