RESPONSE <br />2 <br />EARTHQUAKE PROCEDURES <br />Teacher should go to the door and prop or hold the door open. <br />Students inside should duck, cover, and hold under desks or tables and turn away from windows. <br />Students outside duck and cover on the ground away from buildings, trees, and broken <br />wires. If tables are not down in the cafeteria, students should duck and cover against a <br />wall away from objects on the wall. <br />3. Students should be silent and ready to listen to instructions. <br />EVACUATION <br />4. Fire evacuation procedures should be executed when the earthquake is over. (During a <br />real earthquake the fire alarm may not be operable. Teachers should take their classes <br />outside when they feel that it is safe to do so.) If an aftershock occurs while staff and <br />students are exiting, they should again, Drop, Cover, and Hold On until the shaking <br />stops. <br />5. Teacher leaves class last with classroom emergency response bucket, class roster, and <br />other pertinent information. <br />ASSEMBLY <br />6. Students line up by class at their designated fire drill location. <br />7. Teachers stand in the front of the class line and signal with red, yellow, or green card. <br />• green card signaling attendance taken, all accounted for. No immediate help needed <br />4. All students should wear a name tag <br />5. The office staff will set up communication between the site command center location <br />and the evacuation location. If possible, set up portable PA system or megaphone at evacuation <br />location. <br />6. The teacher/site official will accompany their students to the designated evacuation location, then retake <br />roll and await further instructions. <br />7. If the students and staff are directed off campus, the mode and/or route of evacuation will be relayed <br />to each teacher and/or site official. <br />STUDENT EVACUATION <br />
