Rinses waters are separated by t`pe of waste and plumbed to the pretreatment plant. The cyanide
rinse waters are pH adjusted and cyanide destroyed by adding sodium hypochlorite . The overflow
of this process is mixed with the heavy metal section. The chrome rinse waters are plumb to the -
chrome section. The rinse water is pH adjusted and chrome -6 N converted to chrome -3 with the
addition of sodium metabisulfite. The overflow of this section is mixed with the heavy metal :
section. The nickel rinse waters are plumbed to the heavy metal section. The heavy metal section
combines the rinse water from nickel rinse tanks with the overflow from the cyanide section and
the cht-orne, section. The combined waters are plumbed to the pH adjust section of the treatment
plant. The pH is adjusted prior to the overflow to the polymer section. In the polymer section the
pohmer is mixed with the waters. The overflow then goes to the clarifier section.. The metal
hydroxides settle against the panel and then settle to the bottom of the section. The bottom of the
section is plumbed via time operated valve to a holding tank. The metal hydroxides being heaviei
than water settle in the bottom. Once the valve opens the metal hydroxides flow to the holding tank
with waters. The metal hydroxides tend to settle in the bottom of the holding tank. The excess
waters are plumbed back to the heave metal section. The metal. hydroxides are pumped into a
filter press to dewater. Filter cake is the result of the filter press. This filter cake is sent tor
recycling. The overflow water form the clarifier is plumbed to the municipal utilities after pH
adjustment.
