In addition if a material meets the definition of a "reusable household hazardous waste
product or material" as defined in 25218.1(o) then that material would not need to be manifested (i.e.,
you must have a compliant materials exchange program at the facility, including a Quality Assurance
Plan, to do this activity).
I hope this information is helpful.
From: Regulatory Assistance Office@DTSC
Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2012 2:12 PM
To: Sanchez, Kevin@DTSC
Cc: Rizzardo, Teresa@DTSC
Subject: FW: Shipping papers of reuse material
Importance: High
Hi Kevin or Teresa,
Wondering if one of you could respond to this person? I left him a voice mail telling
him that you can not use a manifest & then destroy it. I'm still a bit sick after being out
yesterday. This appears to be a house hold haz waste event. They should just be able
to transport back to the main facility & not sure why they are doing what they're doing.
Can either of you get back to him?
Gloria
Regulatory Assistance Officer
Hazardous Substances Scientist
DTSC- Cypress branch
714-484-5400
From: Regulatory Assistance Office@DTSC
Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 2:59 PM
To: Muniappa Naidu [EH]
Subject: RE: Shipping papers of reuse material
Muniappa,
I will be out for a bit this afternoon. In the interim here are the federal instructions for
the uniform hazardous waste manifest, as it is a federal form:
http://www.epa.gov/epawaste/hazard/transportation/manifest/pdf/man-inst.pdf
10/18/2012
