Upon considering using fiberglass it was not recommended
as the way to make this seal by the manufacturer nor was it ever used by them in this manner. The use of
silicone as a bead positioned over the joint allows the material to be drown in when applied under vacuum and
is how the manufacturer originally manufactured the tank seal. It preserved the ability to make future repairs in
the same manor easily. Fiberglass does not bond well with steel, makes a very difficult repair should one need
to be made at a later time and could compromise the portion of original seal remaining over time. Please see
photos attached.
I would like to see if I can provide a test for you on Monday of the secondary containment. Please let me
know if you have time in your schedule to allow for this and what time would work best if you do.
Please call me at 530-774-4276 if you get this Monday morning so I can have the system under vacuum
Thank You
Bryce Ruschhaupt
California Petroleum Equipment Inc
Po Box -423, Chester CA. 96020
530-774-4276 • Fax 530-259-4099
CA Lic #432613 • A, B, C-10, C-61, Haz
bryce@capetroleum.com
3/12/2012
