Box 2009 0 (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) 0 Stockton, CaUbmia 95201
(209)4 3400
RENO AND MARION CANEPA
1536 N HUNTER ST
STOCKTON CA 95207
RE: Canepa's Car Wash
—.249 1--- 1`1- St.
Stockton, CA
L;
This is to inform you that the State Water Resources Control Board (SVv'RCB) staff with
the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Program (Cleanup Fund) will be coming to
our office to review your file on May 25, 1993. This review is to determine if you are in
compliance with corrective action orders and directives. According to San Joaquin County
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) files no corrective action
has taken place at the above referenced site to date.
When the three underground storage tanks were removed in November of 1990 PHS/EHD
staff noted obvious soil contamination on their inspection report. Results of the soil samples
collected beneath the tanks at the time of removal confirmed high levels of soil
contamination. Further investigation is warranted to assess the full extent of the soil and/or
groundwater contamination.
Your site was placed on the contaminated site list maintained by PHS/EHD in December
of 1990. At that time an "Unauthorized Release Report" was completed listing the site on
the State contaminated site list. Pursuant to section 25299.37 of the Health and Safety Code
PHS/EHD is directing you to take corrective action in response to the unauthorized release
from the underground storage tanks.
Compliance with corrective action orders and directives is a requirement for reimbursement
of cleanup costs from the Cleanup Fund.
In order to be in compliance with this directive you must submit a work plan for further
assessment of the soil/groundwater contamination by July 7, 1993. Reports of work must be
signed by a California Registered Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist or Registered
Engineer. A list of consultants that have worked in this county is enclosed.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services 10
