Louise, Manteca <br />This office is in receipt of the requested letter from Quik Stop <br />Markets, Inc. dated 4-23-87, acknowledging the uncertainties associated <br />with vadose zone monitoring. <br />Therefore, as previously discussed, the vadose monitoring systems <br />may be installed under the following conditions: <br />1. The presence of sand or peagravel backfill must be verified <br />by four test borings in the underground tank excavation <br />at each facility. <br />2. The vadose zone monitoring wells will be constructed and <br />soil samples obtained according to applicable portion of <br />CAC Title 23, Chap. 3, Subchapter 16 Section 2645, 2646 <br />and 2648. <br />3. The vadose zone monitoring system will be a back up to <br />inventory reconciliation, precision testing and installation <br />of pipline leak detectors as required by monitoring alternative <br />#6. <br />Enclosed are the approved permits for test borings and vadose zone <br />monitoring wells.
