N
The SJCPHS also requested that the samples collected from beneath the fuel
dispensers, and the product line trench, also be analyzed for the presence of leaded
gasoline and diesel fuel. Samples D-1, D-2, D-3 and PLA were analyzed for the
presence of TPH-D, TPH-G, BTEX, MTBE and total lead following the methods
described above.
Due to the warranty requirements of the two new 12,000 gallon double walled
fiberglass UST's scheduled to be installed at the station which required the placement
of clean pea gravel around the UST, it was decided to remove the excavated pea
gravel from the site. If the pea gravel had detectable concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbon related compounds it may be necessary to dispose of the pea gravel at a
class I or II landfill. As discussed above the nearest such facility was Forward Landfill.
Forward Landfill was contacted for disposal analytical requirements. The analytical
requirements for disposal at Forward Landfill were to obtain four samples to be
composited into one in the analytical laboratory and this composite analyzed for the
presence of TPH-D, TPH-G, BTEX and the five LOFT metals (Cadmium [Cd],
Chromium [Cr], Nickel [Ni], Lead [Pb] & Zinc [Zn]) for TCLP.
In compliance with the disposal requirements of Forward Landfill the four samples
obtained from the soil pile, SP -1, SP -2, SP -3, and SP -4, were submitted to the
laboratory for composting and analyses To facilitate removal the soil pile samples SP-
1, SP -2, SP -3, and SP -4 were submitted for analysis with a 24 hour turn around time.
Other samples were submitted with a standard two week turn around time.
=i
MV\w:W4.2e1\UST.RPT 126 -OCT -961
