Appendix 1.A -Test Results - Entry Classification Chart <br /> The chart below lists the materials that must be evaluated as part of the confined/enclosed space entry <br /> procedures. Acceptable levels of these materials have been set to serve as a basic criteria in deciding <br /> which type of entry to follow.The chart contains the name of the material to be evaluated,along with the <br /> corresponding acceptable levels for each of the two types of entry, general and special. <br /> NOTE: All materials must test at or below the acceptable limits for general entry before a space can be <br /> declared safe for entry following general entry requirements. If any one material tests above the <br /> acceptable limits, special entry requirements must be followed. <br /> Enclosed Space <br /> Material or Condition General Entry- Acceptable Test Results <br /> Flammable Vapors Below 5%LFL <br /> Oxygen Greater than 19-5%oxygen <br /> Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) 0 Parts per million (ppm) <br /> Light Hydrocarbons (gasoline-like materials) 300 ppm or less <br /> Lead Compounds Levels below 4mg per cubic foot after cleaning <br /> Other Toxic/Combustible Materials Consult with Division Compliance Specialist for <br /> requirements <br /> Confined Space <br /> Material or Condition Special Entry- Acceptable Test Results <br /> Flammable Vapors 5%to 10%LFL <br /> Oxygen Less than 19% <br /> Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) 1 to 10 ppm <br /> Light Hydrocarbons (gasoline-like materials) Greater than 300 ppm <br /> Lead Compounds Levels above 4mg per cubic foot after cleaning <br /> Other Toxic/Combustible Materials Consult with Division Compliance Specialist for <br /> requirements <br /> Additional Entry Restrictions <br /> Material or Condition Restriction <br /> Flammable Vapors Greater than 10% LFL- NO ENTRY ALLOWED <br /> Oxygen Less than 16.1% EMERGENCY ONLY <br /> With self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) <br /> Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Over 10 ppm - EMERGENCY ONLY-with (SCBA) <br /> 2/99 <br /> Page 20 of 30 <br />
