oi 10M N aq 0, 1 W I Leis]
N I a ON WON M
NOTE: On new installation, and when replacing boards,
verify jump jack settings for the proper site
configuration. Prior to applying power, see MDE-
2713 Universal Distribution Box Installation
manual.
NOTE: If G-CATrms are connected to boards configured for
45ma operation, the MPU boards will be damaged.
The dispenser current regulator section ensures that the
proper current (selected by the 45ma/20ma jumper) flows
through the loops. All dispensers and CRINDTMs must
have the distribution board set for 45ma. The loop voltage
will vary with changes in the AC line voltage, but should
always be between +9VDC and +15VDC (Open Loop).
When dispensers are connected, and operating normally,
the voltage reading across the loop will be about 1.5VDC
(pulsing)..
There is one indicator LED for each current loop. The
LED status can be interpreted as:
ON Open current loop or Isolate.
OFF Current loop OK, No data transmission
FLASHING Normal operation, data being transmitted.
(The LED normally appears to be dimly lit.
This is because it is flashing so fast it cannot
be detected.)
The dispenser/G-CATTM current loop setting can be
checked for proper settings using the following procedure:
1. Disconnect the field wiring connectors from the board.
2. If the unit is set for TWI input, change to RS -422 and
remove JP14. (See MDE-2713 for Jumper Settings).
3. Set multimeter for current (ma) measurement.
4. Set NORMAL/ISOLATE jumpers to NORMAL.
NOTE: When jumpers are set to ISOLATE; there is no
voltage on the + pin of the MTA connector.
5. Connect the positive meter lead to the + pin of any
output channel. Connect the negative meter lead to
the corresponding - pin. Measure current:
45ma - meter should show 42 to 48ma.
20ma - meter should show 18 to 24ma.
6. If unit is intended for TWI input, change jumpers from
RS -422.
7. Replace JP14.
8. Replace field wiring connectors. Set NORMAL/ISO-
LATE jumpers for each channel.
MDE-2714A • Universal Distribution Box Service Manual • 02196 Page 9
