RED THREAD II pipe has a greater flow capacity than many other pipes with the same O.D. This is because its high-strength, fiberglass construction provides a srnoother I.D. and can pro- vide a larger I. D. for specified pressures. Tapering When RED THREAD II pipe is cut to, length on the job site, the cut end must be retapered. A field taperingtool avail- able from Smith Fiberglass Products is used for this purpose. The tool quickly applies the proper taper by a shaving operation — similar to a pencil shar- pener. Plain unthreaded field -made tapers can be joined with factory - installed threaded TAB. Joint coupled ends. Either factory -made T.A.B. spigots or field -made tapers may be joined with belled fittings. For proper tapering, carefully follow the operating instruc- tions (bulletin 9106) included with the tapering tool kit. Handling and Storage RED THREAD II pipe is packaged in compact bundles of four to eight lengths.
