An Equipment Decontamination Area must be established for each Exclusion Zone. It may be <br />part of the Exclusion Zone, outside of the zone, or both. Equipment, such as sampling <br />devices, which must be decontaminated before being reused in an Exclusion Zone, may be <br />decontaminated in the Exclusion Zone. Equipment, such as hand auger, will be <br />decontaminated in a relatively uncontaminated area in a Contamination Reduction Zone before <br />leaving the controlled area. Protective equipment worn in Exclusion Zones must also be worn <br />in equipment decontamination areas. <br />One or more areas shall be designated for decontamination of personnel. Because personal <br />decontamination will be required before rest breaks, lunch, leaving the site at the end of the <br />work shift, and entering the Support Zone to coordinate activities with other personnel. <br />A Support Zone is a relatively clean area where support equipment and facilities are located. <br />The Support Zone is best if stationed upwind of the exclusion or disturbance area(s). <br />• <br />JET@]a • ' <br />The level of protection while performing tasks at the site will be dependent upon known <br />and/or suspected contaminants and job hazards to be encountered during the progress of the <br />works. The level of protection, and any upgrading or downgrading, will be determined by the <br />SSHO. The following personal protection equipment (PPE) is for all TAIT workers and <br />subcontractors: <br />• Safety Vest (at all times) <br />• OSHA approved work boots (at all times) <br />• Safety glasses (at all times) <br />• Hard Hat (at all times) <br />Half or Full -face air -purifying respirators (as required) <br />Hearing protection (as required) <br />Nomex Coveralls or Tyvek suits (as required) <br />• Work gloves (as required) <br />Nitrile gloves (as required) <br />11/07/2005 revision 5 11 <br />
