Y
File MH21147 Vol. 1 Sec.1 Page 1 Issued: 2005-04-04
and Report
DESCRIPTION
PRODUCT COVERED:
Model OPW 6150, and OPW 71SO Type B overfill protection device for use
with petroleum products. Maximum flow 1,514 L/min, maximum pressure 45 kPa.
GENERAL:
This device is designed to be installed in the fill pipe or riser of an
underground petroleum storage tank.
It is intended to prevent overfilling of the underground tank to the
point of leakage to the environment, during the filling process.
When the liquid level rises to 95W of tank capacity as established by
the installer the valve mechanism is released and closes automatically with
the flow. The hose kick which occurs as a result of the valve closure
signals the operator that the tank is full and to close the delivery valve.
The overfill device has a by pass valve that permits a reduced flow rate
of approximately 19 L/min, allowing the delivery hose to drain.
Should the tank level reach 98% capacity, the bypass valve closes
preventing additional liquid from entering the tank until the level drops
below the reset point.
This product is intended to be installed in accordance with the
applicable provisions of the National Fire Code of Canada and the
Environmental Code of Practice for Underground Storage Tank Systems
Containing Petroleum Products.
This product is intended to be installed in accordance with the
manufacturers printed instructions which are supplied with each containment
assembly.
Authorities having jurisdiction should be consulted before installation.
