Kith
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
V, ,
te E
P.O. Box 388
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor 5 1997
Stockton, CA 95202
0.
Underground Storage Tank Replacement Project
Pacific Bell Property
907 Lincoln Road; Stockton, CA
Dear Mr. Michael Kith:
IT Corporation (M was retained by Pacific Bell to oversee the removal of one underground
storage tank (UST) from the above referenced property on August 6, 1997. IT collected
verification soil samples from the tank excavation and beneath the concrete vault formerly
containing the tank piping, the results of which indicated no detectable petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations. Analysis of composite soil samples collected from the tank overburden material,
however, revealed the presence of minor diesel fuel concentrations. The 200 yd' of overburden
material was disposed offsite and clean material was emplaced in the excavation, surrounding the
new replacement tank. Based on these results, it appears that this is a "soils only" case, and the
impacted material has been removed and disposed. Therefore, site closure is requested as no
further actions are warranted in association with the removal of the UST.
Please notify Pacific Bell of the case closure in writing for their files. If you have any questions
or comments, you may contact me at (510) 372-5292. Thank you for your assistance in this
matter.
Sincerely,
Sydney Geels
Project Manager
cc: Irene Soto - Pacific Bell
Mark Edgar - Pacific Bell
c.\sydney\pbstock.cv1
TT Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of International Technology Corporation
