The compact size of the <br />probes makes them economical <br />to install, and they require no <br />calibration. <br />Probes are preset to ignore <br />small residual layers ofpetroleum <br />less than Y4 -inch which indicate a <br />presence, but not aleak. Where <br />response toolarger mrlesser <br />degree is required, this setting <br />issite-adjustable from A-inchto <br />2inches indepth. Anamount of <br />hydrocarbons will quickly <br />accumulate tothis depth. <br />The sensor floats otthe <br />oil/water interface level. Itmaintains <br />interface even with various ground <br />water fluctuation. <br />Electrical connections are <br />accomplished atajunction box <br />atthe wellhead. <br />Each probe features a <br />push'to-testbutton and three LEDs <br />for indicating underground status. <br />Red for hydrocarbons. Yellow for <br />water And green for air These <br />indicators allow aperiodic check on <br />the system. They also let operators <br />pinpoint the exact probe that has <br />triggered analarm aithe control <br />monitor. <br />The underground probe senses <br />hydrocarbon hazards before they <br />have achance tospread.
