The sump penetration
fittings were installed by the manufacturer to the bottom of 5
gallon polyethylene buckets. Short lengths of plugged pipe were band
clamped to each fitting and the fittings were filled with Urethane
Sealant. The SBL3.5 split repair fittings were bonded with FastFuse
Glue. Each bucket had provision for filling, sealing and
pressurizing.
GENERAL:
The test results relate only to the items tested.
The following tests were conducted with the results indicated.
SIMULATED USE RESISTANCE TO FLUIDS TEST:
METHOD
One container as described above was filled with each of the fluids
Listed below such that the fittings inside the sump were completely
covered with the fluids. The samples and fluids were maintained at a
temperature of 100°F throughout the exposure. Following 30 days in
this condition, the containers were subjected to an internal pressure
of 3 psig (based on a maximum sump depth of 7 ft.) while the samples
were examined for evidence of leakage.
Premium Leaded
Gas
50%
Methanol/50%
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
Regular Unleaded Gas
50%
Ethanol/50%
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
ASTM Reference
Oil 2
15%
Methanol/85°.
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
ASTM Reference
Fuel A
15%
Ethanol/85%
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
100%
Ethanol
Toluene
10%
Ethanol/90%
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
100% Methanol
30%
Ethanol/70%
ASTM Reference
Fuel C
70oC Air Oven
RESULTS
There was no evidence of leakage.
