Hazelton Ave. `
P.O. Box 2009MAR
;
Stockton, CA 95201 fnWRONIIME
t-INTALf , _ i
Dear Ms. Heran:
On January 4, 1990, California Water Service Company removed
a 2500 gallon, unleaded gasoline storage tank from our field yard
at 1602 E. Lafayette in Stockton. As required, two soil samples
were taken from the excavation (analytical results are enclosed) .
One of the two soil samples showed 15 mg/Kg of Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) and 130 ug/Kg of Xylene. The second
sample was clean. Since one sample showed TPH a "contamination
site report" was filed by Dimetra Papadogiannis on 2-9-90.
According to the "Regional Board Staff Recommendations for
Initial Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tanks11 our
contractor performed a routine tank removal with no obvious tank
system failure. This resulted in a "Case 2" situation in which
no further action is required:
a. The total petroleum hydrocarbon level was less than 100 ppm
in soil samples. The sample result was 15 ppm.
b. No detectable TPH were found below the seasonal high
groundwater level. I have enclosed our groundwater level
data for this site since 1978 showing 38® to be the highest
level since then.
c. The soil has low permeability as evidenced by the enclosed
well log from this site showing uninterrupted clay to 132
feet.
d. No water was present in the excavated tank pit, with current
water levels being measured at 57 feet.
