E C 0 R - 11111A
• 4.0 FIRST QUARTER 2008 MONITORING AND SAMPLING
4.1 Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Procedures
Quarterly groundwater sampling of 15 shallow wells (A-Zone) (MW-4, MW-9, 2AMW-12,
MW-18, MW-20, MW-21, MW-22, MW-23, MW-25, MW-28, MW-30, MW-31, MW-33, MW-34
and MW-45), 11 B-Zone wells (MW-24, MW-26, MW-27, MW-29, MW-32, MW-35, MW-41,
MW-42, MW-44, MW-51, and MW-53), one C-Zone well (MW-54), and one D-Zone well
(MW-55), was performed by SECOR between January 21 and January 25, 2008. Groundwater
monitoring and sampling activities were performed as required by MRP No. R5-2004-0820
(Appendix-A), which was issued by the RWQCB on May 6, 2004. MRP No. R5-2004-0820 is
summarized in Table 1.
Groundwater monitoring and sampling activities were conducted concurrently with Wallace-Kuhl
during the first quarter 2008. On behalf of the RDA, Wallace-Kuhl is responsible for monitoring
and sampling at the portion of the South Shore Parcels identified as the MOU and the UOU.
Ten shallow wells, MW-3, MW-5, MW-7, MW-8, MW-11, 2AMW-15, 2BMW-1, and MW-37
through MW-39 are located in the MOU and UOU and were gauged and sampled by
Wallace-Kuhl. Wells MW-36 and 3MW-1R, which were previously part of the MOU/UOU MRP,
were destroyed by Clayton on April 5, 2004 due to the development of the adjacent parcel. Well
MW-6 was destroyed by Golden. State Environmental on June 21, 2007 due to excavation and
construction activities in the area.
• Groundwater monitoring wells were sampled according to the requirements stated in MRP No.
R5-2004-0820, with the exception of the following:
• Shallow wells MWA and MW-2 have not been sampled since September 1999 and July
1990, respectively. There is no evidence that these wells still exist, and therefore, these
wells are considered lost.
• Wells MW-6, MW-36 and 3MW1-R were previously abandoned.
4.2 Laboratory Analysis
, s
Groundwater monitoring of L&M OU wells during the first quarter 2008 was performed by
SECOR. SECOR's standard procedures for groundwater monitoring and sampling are
presented in Appendix B. Groundwater samples collected from each well by SECOR were
submitted under chain-of-custody (COC) documentation to Kiff Analytical, a state certified
laboratory located in Davis, California and were analyzed for the following:
• TPHd and TPHo by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015M
• TPHg; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX compounds); fuel
oxygenates (MtBE, di-isopropyl ether [DIPE], ethyl tertiary butyl ether [EtBE], TBA,
tertiary amyl methyl ether [TAME], methanol, and ethanol); and volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 8260B
• • Semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) by EPA Method 8270C
1 Q08QSSRQRSRWR.Final.doc 9 April 30,2008
7TrW.26397.42.1307
