Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report - First Quarter 2016
L&M Operable Unit-West Weber Avenue and North Lincoln Street, Stockton, CA
April 29, 2016
•
4.0 Soil Vapor Sampling
4.1 SOIL VAPOR SAMPLING FIRST QUARTER 2016
On March 24 and 25, 2016 soil vapor samples were collected from 19 of the 24 soil vapor
monitoring points located in the adjacent Delta View Apartment complex (APSV locations) and
on undeveloped portions of the Site (UPSV locations). Soil vapor points UPSV-5, APSV-2, APSV-4,
APSV-16, and APSV-18 could not be sampled due to a block in the sampling line possibly as a
result of water infiltration.
4.2 SOIL VAPOR SAMPLING METHODS
Samples were collected following guidance provided by the California Department of Toxic
Substance Control (DTSC) and Los Angeles RWQCB Advisory-Active Soil Gas Investigations,
dated April, 2012. Laboratory analytical reports for 1 Q16 are provided in Appendix H. Current
soil vapor analytical results from this sampling event are presented as Table 6 and are
summarized below. Historic soil gas analytical data can be found in Table 7.
• Soil vapor samples UPSV-1 through UPSV-3, UPSV-6, UPSV-6-D, UPSV-7, UPSV-8, APSV-1, APSV-3,
APSV-5 through APSV-12, APSV-14, APSV-15, APSV-IS-D, and APSV-17 were collected and
analyzed in the field by TEG using a syringe equipped with a gas-tight fitting attached to a '/4-
inch TeflonO tubing inlet at each soil vapor monitoring point. Once connected, the syringe was
used to a purge a calculated volume of air based on the diameter and depth of inlet tubing.
Upon purging each vapor point, the air sample was collected and immediately analyzed by
TEG, using a California certified on-site mobile laboratory. Collected samples were analyzed for
the following:
• TPHg using EPA Method 8260B:
• BTEX compounds, fuel oxygenates (MTBE, DIPE, ELBE, TBA, TAME), and naphthalene, using
EPA Method 82608; and
• Methane using GC/TCD.
4.2.1 Quality Assurance/Quality Control-Samples and General Laboratory Notes
Duplicate samples UPSV-6-D and APSV-IS-D were collected from two soil vapor points (UPSV-6
and APSV-15 respectively) during the 1 Q16 sampling event. Comparison of TPHg, benzene, and
Methane are shown on the following tables.
•
® Stantec 12
