i <br /> i <br /> 12 January 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No. 03-1079 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> The ground water sample was collected at 65 feet bsg in the for,ier tank pit area..using a Geoprobe f <br /> hydropunch sampling assembly.The probe rods were advanced to the desired depth,then the hollow <br /> steel rods were pulled up four feet exposing a PVC screen in the saturated zone. Ground water was <br /> allowed to enter the screen, and samples were retrieved using a modified PVC tubing bailer. <br /> Sufficient sample was collected from the borings to fill three 40'ml EPA-approved volatile organic <br />` analysis (VOA) vials containing 0.5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative. Ground <br /> water sample containers were labeled with probe boring designation,depth,date,time,and sampler's <br /> initials.The preserved samples were logged on a chain-of-custody form,placed in a chilled container <br /> I and transported to CTEL for analysis. <br /> k <br /> EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION , <br /> i <br /> Prior to sample collection,the Geoprobe soil and ground water sampling equipment and probe rods <br /> were washed with a solution of Alconox and triple rinsed with'clean water. <br /> i - <br /> ANALYTICAL METHODS <br /> The soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories <br /> (CTEL), a California Department of Health Services-certified laboratory, for analysis for: <br /> V_ <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as hydraulic oil'(TPH-ho)in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015M; <br /> • Poly-chlorinated bi-phenols (PCBs) in accordance with EPA Method 8082; <br /> • Total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbon(TRPH) in accordance with EPA Method 418.1; <br /> i <br /> • Carbon Chains in accordance with EPA Method 8015. <br /> II <br /> Each grab ground water sample was analyzed for: <br /> • TPH-g in.accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified <br /> { <br /> • BTEX in accordance with EPA Method 8260; and 4 <br /> ii <br /> • Fuel additives including MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, methanol, ethanol, EDB and <br /> 1,2-DCA by EPA Method 8260B. <br /> i <br /> c <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
