Coolant water was piped into the stormwater collection pond for
recirculation or evaporation. This practice was recently abandoned and
water is no longer drawn from the canal . The intake pipe is still present
along the canal bank but is no longer used.
2.2 INVENTORY OF BULK STORAGE
All products are delivered to the site by truck. Bulk dry fertilizers
are pneumatically pumped into bins. Bulk liquid fertilizers are pumped
into tanks. Smaller pre-packaged containers of fertilizers and pesticides
are stored in the warehouse. Fertilizers and pesticides are picked up at
the facility by customers or are transported to the field for application
using WFS equipment.
Bulk liquid fertilizers are stored in tanks within the fertilizer tank
farm or in isolated tanks located throughout the site. At the time of the
WCC site inspection, the tank farm consisted of 12 tanks. In addition, 2
converter tanks, a mixing bin, and a mixing tank were present in the tank
farm. The tank farm is surrounded by concrete curbing and the tanks sit on
a gravel bed. A description of each tank, including tank type, size, and
volumetric capacity, is provided in Table 2-1.
A total of 11 tanks were observed at various other locations throughout
the facility. A description of each tank, including tank type, size, and
volumetric capacity, is included in Table 2-1. The locations for these
tanks are generally not permanent, and the tanks have been moved to other
locations at the site. A 350,000-gallon tank containing the fertilizer 10-
34-0 was recently moved to its current location shown on Figure 1.
The tank farm was undergoing renovation at the time of the WCC site
inspection. A number of tanks were being removed or replaced. Soils were
2-6
