6.0 Impact Considerations Version :27.10.4 <br /> . Prior to initiating any organized search and rescue plan, authorization must be <br /> obtained from the appropriate federal/state agency. <br /> . Initial search and rescue efforts, if needed, should be left up to the <br /> appropriate agencies. They have the personnel, equipment, and training to <br /> immediately begin capturing contaminated wildlife. <br /> . With or without authorization it must be anticipated that volunteer citizens will aid <br /> distressed/contaminated wildlife of their own. It is important to communicate that it <br /> may be illegal to handle wildlife without express authority from appropriate agencies. <br /> Provisions should be made to support an appropriate rehabilitator, however, no <br /> support should be given to any unauthorized volunteer rescue efforts. <br /> . The regulatory agencies and response personnel should be provided the name and <br /> location of a qualified rehabilitator in the event contaminated wildlife is captured. <br /> .
