2-010 -A Site Summary- San Joaquin River, Port of Stockton 2-010 -A <br /> Thomas Guide Location Latitude N Longitude W <br /> County: San Joaquin SF Bay and Delt 3757.2 121 20 <br /> UscsQuad: Stockton West NOAAchart: 18661 SACRAMENTO/SAN JOAQUIN RIVER <br /> Last Page Update: 7/1/2005 <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION: <br /> Site is from intersection of San Joaquin River and Deep Water Channel at the Port of Stockton (R 48)to <br /> terminus of harbor east of 1-5. This deepwater port is heavily developed with commercial wharves and facilities. <br /> The margins are either heavily ripped or have seawalls and piers. Some mature trees line the edges. This is an <br /> area with high likelihood of originating spills. <br /> SEASONAL and SPECIAL RESOURCE CONCERN <br /> Special Status Species occur here: modest numbers of Delta smelt(FT/CE) are here during Nov and Dec; <br /> Swainson's hawk and burrowing owl nest and forage in this vicinity. <br /> RESOURCES OF PRIMARY CONCERN <br /> Aquatic environment supports freshwater community. Low dissolved oxygen can stress this community in late <br /> summer. Shoreside life that can utilize extremely disturbed areas. <br /> Swainson's hawk(ST)and burrowing owl nest and forage north of and along the harbor. <br /> During fall/winter modest numbers of Delta (FT/CE)smelt occur. Juvenile and adult striped bass are typical as <br /> are warm water species. <br /> Freshwater invertebrates are those typical of low salinity delta waters. <br /> CULTURAL.
