In the report prepared by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. of the results of the July 2004 investigation, gasoline contamination was found in
the soil from 25 to 45 feet below the surface grade. This is new site information that was not found when
the UST's were removed in September 1998. Therefore, additional site investigation to determine the
lateral and vertical extent of the gasoline contamination in soil and groundwater is required. Submit a
work plan for this investigation to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department by November 1,
2004.
The attached "Notice of Responsibility" is official notification that your site has been assigned to the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department's Local Oversight Program for oversight of assessment
and clean up activities at contaminated underground storage tank sites.
Our goal is to certify completion of corrective action at underground storage tank leakage sites pursuant to
California Code of Regulations, Division 3, Chapter 16, Article 11, (Corrective Action Regulations). These
regulations govern the investigation and mitigation activities at leaking underground storage tank sites.
The Regulations can be accessed on the State Water Resources Control Board website at
http://www.calregs.com/.
The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region "Appendix A- Reports Tri-
Regional Board Staff Recommendations For Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground
Tank Sites" should be used as a guidance document. It can be accessed on their web site at
http://www.swrcb.ca.gov/—rwqcb5/available documents/ug tanks/Tri-Regionals Appendix A.pdf. All w6rk
and reports which require geological or engineering evaluations must be performed under the direction of
an appropriately California registered or certified professional.
A Remedial Action Completion letter will be provided after EHD has determined that no further site
investigation or remedial action is required. °
If you have any questions or there are any corrections in the responsible party information, contact me at i
(209)468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
`rl
Margaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit '
c: SWRCB, UST Section—Jenniffer Jorden
RWQCB, Central Valley Region—Jim Barton
Advanced GeoEnviromental—Donna Sexton without NOR
