1.0 INFORMATION <br /> This Health and Safety Plan (H& SP) describes basic safety requirements for the soil and <br /> groundwater exploration at the R&L Diesel Senices facility, located at 2417 West Lane, <br /> in Stockton California. The location of the site is -hown in Figure 1. <br /> The provisions of the plan apply to the employes of Environeering, Inc. (EI), and the <br /> contractors working on this phase of the project. The contractors may elect to increase <br /> the safety requirements for their work with prior concurrence of EI. <br /> This H & SP describes the expected potential hazards that may be encountered on site. If <br /> the site, working conditions or scope of the wok for this phase of the project change <br /> before or during the field work, this H& SP will be revised in keeping with these changes <br /> by EI. <br /> 2.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work for this phase of the project is described in EI's September 8, 2007 <br /> Work Plan entitled IATES77GATE THE EXTEN OF CONTAMINATION ADJACENT <br /> TO AN UNDERGROUND WASTE OIL TANK CLOSED IN PLACE IN APRIL 1988. In <br /> summary, the field work shall include the completic n of the following tasks: <br /> Advancing three (3) soil probes to various depth and securing six (b) soil samples and <br /> one (1) groundwater sample for analysis for specifi d contaminants. <br /> 3.0 GENERAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> It is EI's safety policy to take every reasonable precaution in the performance of work to <br /> protect the environment and the health and safety of employees and the public, and to <br /> prevent property damage. With respect to hazardous agents, this protection is provided <br /> by limiting exposures of people, releases to the environment, and contamination of <br /> property to levels that are as low as reasonably achi vable (ALARA). <br /> It is the intent if this H & SP to supply the broad outline for completing investigation and <br /> remediation activities within ALARA guidelines.
