Section 1
INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of a site investigation performed at PG&E's Thornton Gas Dehydrator
Station, which is located in San Joaquin County, approximately 4 miles north of Thornton and immediately
east of the intersection of County Road J8 and Barber Road (Figure 1). The purpose of this investigation
was to assess whether petroleum hydrocarbons are present in the subsurface soils at the site. The
investigation was requested by PG&E's Gas Services and Operations Department and was coordinated with
the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department (SJCPHSD), Environmental Health Division.
The scope of work for this study included advancing and sampling 15 shallow soil borings within the site
boundaries and on the property immediately adjacent to the site, submitting selected soil samples for
chemical analyses, reviewing available geologic literature, and preparing this report.
cca09/17/93(9784a.doc)cp45) 1-1
