Infection i
Section 3
Procedures for protecting clean instruments and sterile instrument packs from exposure to dust
and moisture during storage
There will be no sterilization equipment as only single use disposable equipment is used and
discarded after each procedure. New instruments will be prepackaged with a sterilization
number provided on the packaging by the manufacturer. Each instrument that is used is to be
inspected for damages to the packaging prior to opening and using on a new client. If there is
damage to a package it is to be discarded in the sharps container and a new undamaged
instrument is to be used instead. All instruments will be stored in closed cabinet in procedure
room.
Disposable single use instruments have a record of purchase and each tools' sterilization
number is kept in the clients' file in the file cabinet in the procedure room. Client files are also
kept in the filing cabinet in the reception area, which contain all procedures, the practitioner
performing the procedure, client name, and date of the procedure. All of this information is kept
locked at all times.
