Caring for Vour piercing <br /> Cleaning your piercing: When taking a shower, wash your hands and entire body <br /> first before touching your piercing. You can continue to use regular soap in the shower. But keep <br /> it away from your piercing. Never use scented wash or anything with dyes. Shield piercing from <br /> harsh streams of water. Lather some soap in hands and suds up your jewelry and surrounding <br /> area. As soon as finished, wash piercing thoroughly. Clean piercing 2-3 times a day. Do this for <br /> about 4-8 weeks. <br /> Remember: Never touch jewelry! The only time you should touch it is when you are <br /> cleaning! Keep animal hair away from piercing (pets carry germs). If using hair product (i.e. hair <br /> spray) be sure to clean piercing immediately after. Get plenty of rest and maintain a good diet. It <br /> will help speed up the healing process. Ibuprofen is good for swelling and pain <br /> Do not use on piercing: Alcohol, Hydrogen Peroxide, Bactine, Ear solution A&D, <br /> Neosporin, Bacitracin and other ointments, Dial liquid soap. <br /> Oral Plercings: Listerine and other alcohol mouth rinses are not permitted for new oral <br /> piercings. Clean piercings 2-3 times daily. Rinse mouth every time you eat or smoke. No oral <br /> contact for at least 4-8 weeks. You could risk the chance of infection. Ice is good for swelling <br /> and discomfort. Elevation is also good for swelling. Changing toothbrushes is recommended for <br /> new oral piercings. <br /> What to do for an infection <br /> Sea salt soaks are best for standard body piercings. Sea salt is best for body piercings because <br /> they don't contain iodine. Heat up a cup of water and add salt. You should use 1/8 of a teaspoon <br /> for every ounce of water. Let the water be hot enough to where it's not going to burn you. Hold <br /> cup over piercing and create a seal so the solution doesn't leak. Let the piercing soak for 5-10 <br /> minutes. If it's a hard to reach spot such as ears or lip, soak a gauze pad and hold it to piercing. <br /> Rinse piercing thoroughly and dry with a paper towel or tissue. <br />
