Who on your staff is <br />authorized to transport your medical waste? <br />A Limited Quantity Hauling Exemption is maintained. <br />A list of authorized staff able to transport medical waste is maintained by the <br />Environmental Services Department and the Program Manager of Community <br />Health. <br />(g) Do you have tracking documents for all medical waste handled at your facility? <br />• All medical waste records are maintained and available the last 3 years. <br />(h) Describe your medical waste emergency action plan, including procedures for <br />handling spills, exposures, equipment failures, etc. <br />The purpose of the Kaiser Permanente Stockton medical waste emergency action plan <br />is to assure that all medical waste is properly handled to eliminate exposure to the <br />public of possible disease causing agents which may be present in this type of waste. <br />To minimize the human contact with potentially infectious materials, waste devices <br />and instruments by ensuring the safe packaging, storage, treatment and disposal of <br />medical waste. <br />• All spills are to be reported to the Environmental Services Department for <br />proper clean up. <br />• Spills must be cleaned up immediately by a properly trained person using <br />appropriate personal protective equipment in relation to the spill. <br />• Spills are cleaned according to Safety Management Policy Medical Waste <br />Management Program EC.A. 54. <br />• In the event of an employee exposure, the employee shall immediately be <br />evaluated at the Occupational Medicine or Urgent Care Department. <br />San -i -Pak Failure <br />Revised February 18, 2009 <br />Plan maintained by Stockton EVS & EMS Department <br />
