SAN-I-PAK ANNUAL TRAINING GUIDELINE <br />KAISER MEDICAL CENTER <br />Engineering Responsibilities for the San -1 -Pak <br />Facility : Kaiser Permanente Medical center - Stockton <br />Address: 7373 West Lane, Stockton Ca, 95210 <br />1.Daily Requirements <br />a) The printer tape will be checked for proper operation, amount of paper, and ink <br />b) Steam delivery pressure is observed and documented to provide 60 PSI <br />2.Thermometer calibration and routine preventative maintenance <br />a) Thermometers shall be calibrated annually <br />b) San -[-Pak routine maintenance guidelines shall be followed <br />3. Routine maintenance <br />a) Routine maintenance will be performed on the San -I -Pak according to manufacturers guidelines <br />b) Engineers will be trained by San-I-pak to perform the maintenance as recommended <br />c) Maintenance records will be maintained by engineering <br />4. Documentation retention <br />a) The following shall be retained for not less than 3 years <br />1) Monthly biological indicator results <br />2) Each load's temperature and cycle time <br />3) The standard written operation procedures for the biological indicator <br />5. Sterilizer run time and temperature verification <br />a) Prior to EVS personnel dumping sterilized waste. <br />1) An engineer will open the printer door and physically look at the print out. <br />2) Verify the load ran for a minimum of 30 minutes at a minimum of 250 degrees Fahrenheit <br />3) Initial the print out for that load <br />4) If item 5. a) 2) is satisfied the OK will be given to dump the load <br />5) If item 5. a) 2) is not satisfied the EVS personnel will run the same load one additional time <br />6) If it is still not satisfied the machine will be down for maintenance. The load will be transferred by EVS to <br />Stericycle tubs for offsite waste treatment until the sterilizer is up and running again <br />6.Spore testing <br />a) Spore testing will be conducted monthly by the engineering dept. <br />b) Spore testing will be conducted in accordance with the facility policy and procedure titled "3m Attest <br />Biological Indicator Sterile Processing Policy and Procedure" <br />
