POLICY STATEMENT: Solid waste containers must be lined with disposable plastic <br />bag and shall be cleaned whenever visibly soiled. Solid waste containers shall have <br />tight fitting covers, be in good repair and shall have external handles and be leak <br />proof and rodent proof. <br />II. PURPOSE: To maintain carts in a safe, usable and aseptic condition <br />III. PROCEDURE: <br />A. Prepare cleaning equipment and supplies. <br />1. Put on PPE (rubber gloves, boots, raincoat, and goggles). <br />2. Carefully remove any debris affixed to inside and outside of cart. <br />3. Using germicidal solution, clean interior and exterior of the cart and rinse using <br />the pressure sprayer. <br />4. Spray interior and exterior of cart paying close attention to soiled area. Be sure <br />that every inch of the cart is sprayed with germicide solution. Tilt cart on edge <br />to remove liquid inside cart. <br />5. Do not rinse. Let cart air dry at least 15 minutes before using. <br />6. Wipe exterior using a dry towel. Do not use cart until it is dry. <br />7. Check cart for leaks, damage, or repairs needed. Do not use cart if it is in need <br />of repair. Report any damage/needed repairs to supervisor. <br />8. Place plastic protective liner on cart before use. <br />9. Remove personal protective equipment (PPE) and wash hands thoroughly. <br />
