Spills must be cleaned up immediately by a properly trained person <br /> using appropriate personal protective equipment in relation to the spill. <br /> Spray the spill area with a germicide. The disinfectant should be sprayed <br /> thoroughly over the spilled material. Spraying directly onto or into the spill will <br /> disturb as well as spread the material. <br /> Contain the spill by placing absorbent material, disposable towels. Etc. <br /> Once the material is contained, it is to be placed into red bags to identify it as <br /> biohazardous waste. If sharps are involved,these are to be placed into sharps <br /> containers for disposal. <br /> After all the material is picked up and properly double bagged,the contaminated <br /> area should then be wet wiped or mopped with a fresh solution of germicide. <br /> Once the area is dry,the barricade and wet floor sign may be removed. <br /> All liquid waste such as the mop water, and rinse water shall be deposited into the <br /> sanitary sewer,then the containers and sink shall be sprayed with germicide <br /> solution and allowed to air dry. <br /> All Personal protective equipment used in the clean up shall be discarded if <br /> disposables are used. <br />
