Estimate the monthly amount of medical waste generated at your facility <br /> • Kaiser Permanente Manteca Medical Office Building generates approximately <br /> 327 (average of Jan through Dec 2011)pounds/month. <br /> 3. Describe the medical waste handling procedures utilized by and applicable to <br /> your facility <br /> (a) Onsite location and method for segregation,containment,packaging, <br /> labeling, and collection <br /> • All medical waste is separated and disposed at the point of origin. <br /> • Waste will be contained in either red bag and/or ridged containers with lids. <br /> • Waste will be labeled on all side and top to be visible from any lateral <br /> direction. <br /> • Reusable rigid containers are used to transport medical waste from the <br /> department to the containment area. <br /> • All containers shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.. <br /> • Containers are lined with plastic liners and when liners are removed they are <br /> placed in bio-hazard bag. <br /> • Carts will be cleaned according to EVS/Infection Control Policy EC.EV.082 <br /> cleaning procedures for medical waste carts. <br /> • A person shall thoroughly wash and decontaminate reusable rigid containers <br /> for medical waste by a method approved by the enforcement agency each time <br /> Revised January 2,2012 <br /> Plan maintained by Stockton EVS&EH&S Department <br />
